French physicist and philosopher Bernard d’Espagnat has won this year’s Templeton Prize for his work in quantum mechanics that award organizers say reveals a reality beyond science that can only be grasped through spirituality and art. D’Espagnat says his work reveals a realm beyond empirical science, and argues that mystery should not be scorned in the scientific community. Previous winners of the prize include Billy Graham and Mother Theresa.
