A coalition of religious groups has asked president-elect Barack Obama to issue an executive order banning the use of torture on his first day in office. The group, the National Religious Campaign Against Torture, represents a broad coalition of Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox Christians as well as representatives from other religions. The coalition met with members of the Obama transition team on Wednesday, and said they were optimistic that Obama would issue the order.
