Christian College Student Body President Reveals He Is an Atheist

Eric Fromm, the student body president at Northwest Christian University—a school dedicated to fostering “wisdom, faith and service through excellent academic programs within a Christ-centered community”—recently revealed that he is an atheist. In a column titled “Lifting the Curtain” that ran in the student newspaper, Fromm confessed that, “I’m burdened by the fact that my peers might reject me because I’m different from them.” And though he wrote that, “Growing up in church I heard a lot of lessons about how Christians shouldn’t judge others, but it seems like some people slept through that lesson,” Fromm told ABC News he’s actually been surprised by the reaction from friends and the school. The director of university relations at the college told the news outlet, “All of our students are on a journey. While the majority of our students profess a Christian faith, not all do. We as an institution meet students where they are at and believe that our God is big enough.” And though his piece has been met with some criticism, overall Fromm said that people on campus have been mostly supportive. “I actually have gotten more hugs than ever before.
