RELEVANT asked BJ to answer our five big leadership questions.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Wherever your gifts get you, your character has to keep you.
What is the last book you read that created some kind of perspective shift for you?
David & Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell
What’s your favorite inspiring quote?
“I am a mess and yet deeply loved by God.”
If you had to name just one essential quality a leader has to have, what would it be and why?
Refinement. Refinement allows for contentment for where we’re at but not complacency for where we should be going or growing.
If you could give your 21-year-old self one piece of advice what would it be?
Dear Younger Me,
Make it a point to read apart from duty, love apart from obligation and follow leaders who have a comprehensive maturity in life and spiritual matters. Also, not being a follower of Jesus doesn’t take away from what someone can teach you.
