On Christmas Day, Indonesia reduced the sentences of over 9,000 Christian prisoners. Upon receiving clemency, 175 of the prisoners were freed and each saw a reduction of between 15 days and two months.
Reductions were ordered according to how long the prisoner had been jailed. The changes came as a result of considerations from administration and the crimes the prisoners were jailed for, according to reports.
Indonesia’s Law and Human Rights Ministry cut down the sentences of 9,333 Christian prisoners in total, according to Jakarta Post.
