Supreme Court to Hear Arguments in Gay Marriage Cases

This week, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in two cases regarding the constitutionality of laws prohibiting gay marriage. Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that makes gay marriage illegal in the state, and the Defense of Marriage Act, a piece of 1996 legislation that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman, are both at question.
