Study: More Than Half of American Christians Are Now Pro-Choice

The pro-life organization Save the Storks has released the results of a surprising new study that has identified some shifting views about abortion.

According to the survey, which was conducted through the research firm Magid, more than half of American Christians are now “pro-choice” and, just a quarter of American evangelicals say they believe that abortion should be illegal in every circumstance. According to the study, only 33 percent of evangelicals said that they believe that abortion should be illegal in “most cases.” And just 42 percent of evangelicals said that they believe that life begins at conception.

A spokesperson for Save the Storks told The Christian Post, “There’s a disconnect in our culture right now. The majority of Americans believe that life begins at or before the heartbeat, but the majority of evangelicals and Catholics identify as pro-choice.”

The research comes as America once again moves into an election season where policies regarding abortion are still at the forefront for many religious leaders.
