ABC News has posted this slideshow of famous “nail houses” that can be found throughout China. As the country continues to build new roads and cities for its growing population, there are some homeowners who refuse to sell their houses to contractors in favor of highways, large buildings or urban expansion projects. Many complain that the compensation they are offered isn’t fair. As a result, builders simply commence construction around the homes, leaving them completely isolated, sometimes with large ditches dug around them.
