Russell Westbrook Gave the Car He Won at NBA All-Star Game to a Single Mother

Russell Westbrook: NBA superstar; courageous fashion pioneer; local philanthropist. If you follow basketball at all, then you probably already know that Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is having an incredible year on the court. But hoops success isn’t enough for the OKC superstar. He’s also been active in his community, helping people in need. This week, Westbrook donated a car that he won for being named the NBA All Star Game MVP to a single mother of two in Oklahoma.

From Uproxx: “The exchange came about with the help of Sunbeam Family Services, who provides high-quality social services to the poor and working class in Oklahoma City with counseling, foster care, early childhood services and senior care.” Westbrook told his team that he wanted to honor “all the hard work she’s done to keep her family together. I just want to be able to help others any way I can.” It’s not the first time he’s given back to his team’s hometown.
