Over the weekend, a group of Rikers Island inmates saw a fellow inmate jump a prison guard and drag her into a locked bathroom. The inmate’s name was Raleek Young, and he had gained access to a watch post, grabbed the guard and taken her into a bathroom where he attempted to sexually assault her. Fortunately, a few other inmates saw what Young was doing and took swift action. One of them managed to slip through a crack in the locked room and let the others in, where they freed the guard, tackled Young and held him down until other officers arrived. “I appreciate (them) helping a sister officer because that could have been their mother, wife or sister,” said correction officers union president Norman Seabrook …
