Report: Ramadi May Soon Be Fully Liberated From ISIS

There’s been a potentially major break in the fight against ISIS in Iraq. Though there are some conflicting reports about the full extent of the victory, a general told the AP that the city of Ramadi has been “fully liberated” from the radical Islamic militants who have held it for months. Iraqi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool told The New York Times, “The security forces have entered the governmental buildings and raised the Iraqi flags over them after killing many ISIS militants, and the rest have escaped.” Despite the takeover of the government complex in the city, there is reportedly still fighting in other parts of the area, as Iraqi military forces continue their week-long battle against the remaining militants who have occupied the city for more than seven months.
