Tragic reports out of South Korea indicate that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may have executed members the Unhasu Orchestra, a popular North Korean music act. Among the members was Hyon Song-wol, a singer and Kim’s former girlfriend, whose relationship was broken off at the behest of Kim’s late father, Kim Jong-il. According to South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper, the band had been accused of making and distributing sex tapes, but several political experts find that claim dubious. The paper noted that the band had Bibles in their possession when they were arrested and all were treated as political dissidents.
