So it’s probably not the best idea to use your iPhone when behind the wheel. According to the recently-released National Safety Council’s annual report, more than a quarter of all car crashes involve the use of cell phones. Though texting while driving remains a significant risk, it only contributed to 5 percent of accidents, “while 21 percent involve drivers talking on handheld or hands-free cell phones.” Moral of the story: Even if it’s just a brief call, it’s probably better to wait until you’re at your destination to bust out your smartphone if you’re driving a car.
