The impossibly sad story of Cooper Harris, the toddler who died after his father allegedly forgot him in the backseat of a hot car, got sadder and sicker today as prosecutors turned up evidence that his father, Justin, spent that time sending explicit texts including nude pictures to multiple women.

Prosecutors are saying that Justin Harris was leading a double life, cheating on his wife, visiting a “child-free forum” on Reddit and even telling police that he had researched child car deaths. It’s circumstantial evidence, but for two pieces of information prosectors released today. First of all, Harris had to have used his rearview mirror to park his car and reach into the backseat to get his laptop, making his story about forgetting that Cooper was back there very unlikely. Second, security footage shows he returned to his car at least once during the day, which begs the question of how he could not have noticed his child in the backseat.
