Olympic Skier Seeks to Save Stray Puppies in Sochi

American skier Gus Kenworthy has made some new friends while in Sochi to compete at the Winter Olympics—stray puppies. The dogs that roam streets and Olympic venues have been a source of controversy during the games after Russian officials ordered that the strays be killed so they don’t “bother” Olympic fans. But Kenworthy has other plans. He’s been visiting a group of puppies he’s befriended, even arranging vaccinations and kennels for the dogs. He’s also going to try to bring them home with him after the games are over. Thanks to his efforts, even more attention has been brought to the plight of the puppies of Sochi and this campaign from the Humane Society that tells fans how they can adopt a Sochi stray themselves …
