Ohio Governor John Kasich has signed a state budget that also includes several measures that will greatly restrict abortions in the state. In addition to cutting funding to many abortion providers in Ohio, the provisions prohibit any abortion clinic from partnering with a publically-funded hospital—meaning, if a patient needs additional medical attention following a procedure, the individual would have to be transferred to a private medical care provider. Because many of Ohio’s abortion clinics are not in close proximity to private hospitals, they will be forced to close. The new budget measures also require doctors to inform patients about the physical development and fetal heartbeat of their unborn baby before they perform an abortion, and tell them about alternative adoption options that are also available …
