Cory Booker Is the Latest Target of a Suspicious Package

The FBI has confirmed that a suspicious package intercepted in South Florida was addressed to New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, making him the tenth target in a concerning spate of apparent assassination attempts on prominent Democrat politicians, donors and media figures. (h/t Twitter)

Separately, NBC is reporting that a suspicious package “similar in appearance to the other suspected explosives” was intercepted in New York City, addressed to former Director of National Intelligence director James Clapper.

President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Robert de Niro are among the other intended targets. So far, the only thing all the attempted targets seem to have in common is that they’ve been on the receiving end of President Donald Trump’s ire.

In a statement, Trump condemned the apparent mail bombs as “abhorrent” and vowed to bring those responsible to justice, but he also took to Twitter to cast blame on his favorite target: the “hateful” media, who he said cause “a very big part of the anger we see in our society.”
