Models of The Dukes of Hazard’s ‘General Lee’ Will No Longer Be Made

The iconic car from the TV show The Dukes of Hazard—which bears an image of a large Confederate flag on its roof—will no longer be licensed by the studio that owns the franchise. In a statement to Yahoo News, a Warner Bros. representative said:

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof–as it was seen in the TV series. We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.

The move comes as several major retailers including Walmart, eBay, Sears and Amazon have announced that they have stopped selling Confederate flag related items following the shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. Nine members of the historic black church were murdered by a racist gunman. Lawmakers in South Carolina will soon debate on whether the flag will also be removed from State House grounds …
