Libraries Are Accepting Food Donations Instead of Late Fines

There’s a new trend at many local libraries that has found a way for librarians to collect overdue books and for communities to provide food for the homeless. At cities across the country, libraries have started “Food for Fines” programs that let library users reduce their overdue book fines by $2 for every canned food item they bring in.
