Jeff Sessions Tells Immigration Judges to Refuse Asylum to Victims of Domestic Abuse and Gang Violence

Attorney Jeff Sessions is making it a lot harder for thousands of people seeking asylum.

He has just ordered judges to not grant asylum to people who are victims of domestic violence or who’s lives are threatened by gangs.

“Many women sitting right now in detention under these claims might lose their right to obtain protection and be deported to dangerous situations,” Denise Gilman, director of the immigration clinic at the University of Texas Law School in Austin, told The Los Angeles Times.

The United Nations High Commission on Refugees has warned Sessions that his reforms violate international agreements concerning refugees and return victims to dangerous situations.
