French Authorities Arrest Student Planning ‘Imminent’ Church Attacks

Police in France have arrested a 24-year-old student, who they said was planning several terrorist attacks on “one, maybe two churches” in Paris. The French media has described him as an Islamic radical, who moved to France from Algeria six years ago. He was detained after he called an ambulance claiming he’d been shot during a robbery. However, police thought his story didn’t add up, and ended up finding a large cache of weapons and documents that indicated he was planning an attack on churches later that day. They now believe he accidentally shot himself. The student was already known to intelligence agencies in the country after he sought information about visiting Syria last year.
