Franklin Graham: Separating Families at the Border Is ‘Disgraceful’

One of the White House’s most vocal supporters is speaking out against the administration’s new “zero tolerance” immigration policy. Because of the new policy implemented by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, children are forcibly removed from their parents if they are detained for crossing the border illegally. The parents are put into jails and children are placed into foster homes or prison-like youth shelters. In most cases, parents are unable to contact their children.

When asked about the policy, Graham told CBN News, “It’s disgraceful. It’s terrible to see families ripped apart and I don’t support that one bit.” However, he went on to “blame politicians for the last 20, 30 years that have allowed this to escalate to the point where it is today.” He then called out lawmakers.

There seems to be some cognitive dissonance in his last statement: The policy wasn’t a move by lawmakers or politicians. It was enacted by Sessions who was working on behalf of the president.

Graham is one of dozens of Christian leaders to speak out against the policy.
