Doctor Who Helped ‘Cure’ Toddler of HIV Was a Christian Missionary

According to The Washington Post, the doctor who made international headlines for helping to “functionally” cure a toddler of HIV is a former Christian missionary to Africa. Dr Hannah Gay, a University of Mississippi Medical Center pediatrician, spent years in Ethiopia doing missions work with her husband. Today, along with her work in pediatrics, Dr. Gay also teaches Bible lessons at her local church. Her 2-year-old patient is only the second person ever recorded to be “functionally” cured of HIV, meaning the presence of the virus is so small it cannot be detected in the blood and will no longer require treatment …
