Sometimes people are okay. Last weekend, a diner walked into Greenville, North Carolina’s Sup Dogs (which The Takeout notes is the 15th-best hot dog place in America), ordered two glasses of water, took a couple sips and left behind a stack of cash and a thank-you note for “the delicious water.”
That stack of cash, by the way? It totaled $10,000. Server Alaina Custer, a student at East Carolina University, kept the good karma going. She kept $800 and split the rest with her coworkers (seriously that is such an amazing move; talk about paying it forward).
The diner was noted by a pair of customers recording the event to be popular YouTuber Mr. Beast. The guy has over 8 million subscribers and is known for pulling off a ton of stunts and reality-show-like challenges, such as invading random stores with a gang of 100 dinosaurs, sitting for 24 hours in slime and seeing which of his friends can last the longest in a 7-foot circle without leaving. In the past, Mr. Beast gave his 3,000,000th subscriber 3 million pennies (that’s $30,000). We like this random act of kindness above the others.
So looks like there’s hope to be found on YouTube after all. And shoutout Alaina Custer again. You’re a hero, too.
