Dennis Rodman and Kim Jung Un: Forever Friends

When Dennis Rodman—noted peacemaker and foreign policy expert—announced that he was going to be the first known person from the Western world to have an audience with The Onion’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” Kim Jong Un, that was pretty weird. Far weirder, however, is Rodman’s report on North Korea’s leader. Calling Kim a “friend” and a “great guy,” he said, “I love the guy. He’s awesome. He’s so honest.” He also reported that all Kim really wants is for everyone to start talking. “He wants Obama to do one thing: Call him,” said Rodman. “He said, ‘If you can, Dennis, I don’t want [to] do war. I don’t want to do war.’ He said that to me.”

Mr. Rodman was hard pressed to admit that his friend was also a brutal dictator of a horrifying Communist regime, and that he has put some 200,000 of his own citizens into forced labor and subjected the rest to mandated food shortages, which doesn’t exactly sound like the work of a “great guy.” But then, at this point, Dennis Rodman knows more about one of the world’s most powerful, dangerous and enigmatic men than any intelligence agent.
