Daily Stormer, the Notorious Nazi Website, Might Be Getting Shut Down for Good

There’s a lot of terrible things on the internet, but the Daily Stormer is definitely one of the worst.

It’s a loathsome Nazi website that perpetuates the absolute worst elements of humanity like racism, bigotry and just general hatred of anything that doesn’t conform to their soap-scum-thin worldview about how they’re the master race or whatever.

Obviously, with Nazis being back in the limelight following last weekend’s insidious White Nationalist/Neo-Nazi/Pro-Confederate/KKK rally in Charlottesville, Daily Stormer had to get involved, and their involvement might be the thing that finally blasts the site into the inky void of oblivion, where it belongs.

At the Charlottesville rally, one Alt-Right protestor drove his car into a crowd of counter-protestors, injuring many and killing one 32-year-old woman named Heather Heyer. While most of the United States was shocked into mourning, the Daily Stormer chose to post a horrific article shaming Heyer for her appearance and lack of children. That ran afoul GoDaddy’s terms of service. GoDaddy was the host for Daily Stormer’s website.

Shortly thereafter, Daily Stormer’s site appeared to be the victim of a hack from the internet vigilante collective Anonymous, but all was not as it seemed, as Anonymous — who are generally quick to take credit for their actions — disavowed any involvement. It’s possible that someone else claiming to be affiliated with Anonymous hacked the site, but Anonymous itself seems to suspect the whole thing was a failed false flag operation.

Their theory is that since Daily Stormer is about to get kicked offline for violating terms of service, the site is trying to make it look like they were the subject of an extra-legal hack instead and hopefully drum up some sympathy.

Sympathy may be short supply for a Nazi website. The Independent predicts that no other web host is going to want to touch Daily Stormer so the site may well be shut down for good, unless they can find a host sympathetic to Nazis. That sounds like a tall order but, hey, if recent events have taught us anything, it’s that there are a lot more Nazi sympathizers out there than most of us thought.
