Andrews Air Force Base Was on Lockdown Early Today Because of an Active Shooter

This post was updated at 10:37 a.m. to reflect that Joint Base Andrews is now all clear.

Here’s the original report:

Multiple sources are reporting that Joint Base Andrews (JBA) in Maryland—commonly known simply as Andrews Air Force Base—is currently on lockdown after an active shooter was reported at the Air Force base just a little bit ago.

Oddly, according to the base’s official Twitter account, the JBA was planning an “active shooter exercise” this morning. But then reports came of an real active shooter.

According to CBS News, a U.S. Air Force spokesperson has confirmed the “active shooter” lockdown at the base. Incidentally, President Barack Obama flew into Andrews Air Force base just last night.

As of 10:37 a.m., the all-clear was announced for the base.

We’ll update this post as more details are available.
