Abandoned Bride Uses Reception to Throw Party for People with Disabilities

Weeks before her wedding, bride-to-be Michelle received a heartbreaking phone call from her fiancé. “He didn’t want to marry me. He said he didn’t love me anymore,” she told her local news station. But because all of the arrangements for her “fairy tale wedding” had already been made and paid for—including food, ballroom reservations and a band—Michelle decided to use the situation to help others. Michelle contacted Creative Care for Reaching Independence, a group that helps individuals living with disabilities, and told them that they could use her reception to throw a Halloween party for their clients.
