In a brazen robbery that sounds like a subplot of The Italian Job, thieves in Brussels made off with $50 million worth of diamonds during a heist that involved fake police uniforms, high-speed luxury cars and an armed gang. A group of eight armed robbers disguised as police officers broke through a security fence at the German airport and held up the pilots and security guards on a passenger plane that was delivering the diamonds. The gang then escaped in a Mercedes van (which police later found burned-up nearby) and an Audi car. Police say that the entire operation took less than three minutes.
