So there’s this free festival happening at the Museum of Contemporary Art this Sunday. (If you don’t live in Chicago, that’s okay, i’ll make this read worth your while.) All of October will offer free admission to the museum as a result of the MCA’s 40th anniversary celebration. This Sunday there’s the opportunity to enjoy the largest contemporary art museum in the country for free, as well as Chicago’s best local musical acts (that aren’t Wilco or Andrew Bird…). So if you’re not from Chi-city, check out the music links to the bands’ myspaces for some good music, but if you are in the area, come say hi this Sunday at the Intonation Fest…
featuring:
Califone
Califone keeps that experimental Americana coming. They delivered one of my favorite albums from 2006, Roots and Crowns.

check out the stop-motion in the video for Spider’s House
The Cool Kids
I had a lot to say about these guys in my review of the Pitchfork Festival. And if you’d like to check that out, please do. But this is what Chicago rap is all about. Fresh, smart, classy, and (obviously) cool.

they’re bringin’ 88 back!
Flosstradamus
Flosstradamus will be joining the Cool Kids at Intonation. They’re arguably the best party starters in the city. DJ’s with that indie rock edge.

check out their Yeah Yeah remix for the proof.
The 1900s
Another band making Chicago proud. If you like Belle and Sebastian, the beautiful pop of the 1900s will definitely make you smile.
listen to Whole of the Law for twee-pop delight.
see ya Sunday.
