Recently, I’ve discovered a range of things I didn’t previously know. Honestly, these have no real rhyme or reason (or value, perhaps), but I thought I would share a few:
∞Reading in Deuteronomy, I came across this bit of instruction: If a man’s testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the Lord.
In our church, we’ve never thought to ask…or check.
∞One recent afternoon, Seth (our 4 year old) was talking about what he wanted to be when he grows up. “A doctor,” he said. Wyatt then chimed in with his plan to be a scientist. I have noticed that in these conversations neither of my sons (my namesakes, mind you) ever once say they wanted to be a writer or a pastor. I don’t want them to feel any pressure to follow in dad’s footsteps, but I have been curious if it were even a possibility, if they would ever even contemplate a vocation like dad’s.
So, after a pause, I ventured a question to Seth. “Would you ever think about being a pastor?”
“No,” he answered immediately. “I don’t like pastors.”
Good to know.
∞Apparently, when the economy takes a dive, Spam sales climb.
Wouldn’t you have thought it would take more than that?
∞Wyatt turned six yesterday. So, in true Collier fashion, the day was his. One result was that we had his favorite foods for dinner. Cheetos and skittles are actually a pretty nifty combo.
And here’s one item you really should know: our book club will conclude it’s first selections in a few days, at the end of the month. Next week’s post will be an online discussion. However, if you want to join us locals for coffee and a chat live and in person, you are invited to Jittery Joes in Clemson this Sunday (June 1) @ 2 p.m. If I’ve never met you, then coffee’s on me.
