19 Firefighters Die Battling Arizona Wildfire

Sunday marked the deadliest day for firefighters in America since 9/11, as 19 members of an elite firefighting unit were killed while battling a massive wildfire in Arizona. Officials say that a lightening strike likely sparked the blaze that destroyed more than 100 structures while burning through 6,000 acres in an area northwest of Phoenix. In a statement, President Obama said, “They were heroes — highly skilled professionals who, like so many across our country do every day, selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to protect the lives and property of fellow citizens they would never meet” …
