12 People Were Killed in Attack on the Office of a French Satirical Newspaper

Details are still coming in, but authorities say that at least 12 people were killed when a pair of heavily armed gunmen opened fire inside the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. The attackers escaped after the shooting and are still on the loose. Police officers responding to the shooting are believed to be among those killed in the attack. The Paris-based publication was the victim of arson three years ago, after it published cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed and made satirical statements about Islamic law.
