Vermont Will Give You $10,000 If You Move There and Work From Home

Vermont Governor Phil Scott has just signed a new bill into law that may be of interest to you if you’re looking to relocate.

In an effort to attract more remote workers—the state has faced a shrinking population in recent years—starting in January of next year, the state will pay you $10,000 (a maximum of $5,000 a year for two years) if you move to the state and work from home. (You have to work for an out-of-state employer and submit your expenses related to moving and work to collect the cash.)

The idea is that if they can give you money to relocate and get settled, moving to Vermont might be more enticing. The deal is first-come, first-serve, and they’ll be accepting about 100 people into the program for the first three years.

If you’re interested, starting next year, you can apply through Vermont’s Agency of Commerce and Community Development.
