U.S. Government Says Hoverboards Not Safe, Surprising No One

As if the times could get more scary, now the government is coming for our hoverboards. U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has been investigating into the safety hazards posed by hoverboards for months and has finally given us the cold, hard truth—hoverboards aren’t safe. The CPSC sent out an official notice to retailers, manufacturers and importers of new hoverboard safety standards. If not followed, the companies could be liable for seizure of the devices as well as civil and criminal penalties. The CPSC is also calling on hoverboard makers and sellers to voluntarily take hoverboards off the market until they can be certified as safe. And, the production of new boards that meet safety standards and time to test the product for safety means we could be out hoverboards for quite a while. Thanks a lot, big government.
