If you’ve still got a Game of Thrones-sized hole in your heart and Dune: Part 2 is too far off to keep you satiated, Amazon Prime would like you to consider The Wheel of Time. It’s the studio’s latest big sorcery and sandals epic based on a hugely popular fantasy series, and the trailer is the first to utilize YouTube’s interactive 360 technology, so there’s all sorts of stuff going on here. The show stars the excellent Rosemund Pike as Moiraine, a magic lady leading a team, one of whom is prophesied to be The One, believe it or not. Here’s the official description:
Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.
Robert Jordan’s series has a ton of fans, so this comes with a built-in audience. That oughta tie fantasy fans over until Amazon’s other big fantasy epic hits. In the meantime, enjoy the Wheel of Time trailer and don’t be afraid to poke around with the literal (kind of) wheel provided by the trailer experience.
