Last we saw Loki, the famously slippery and morally tricky agent of chaos had vanished into time somewhere in the middle of Avengers: Endgame‘s time heist, absconding government custody with an Infinity Stone in tow. It looks like that’s where his Disney+ series will pick up, with Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw along for the ride. And what a ride it is! Time travel is a fairly regular feature of superhero comics, and this series looks like it’ll be embracing the trope in all its meaty complexity, with a plot that looks every bit as convoluted as its anti-protagonist’s ethical code.
Wilson is playing Mobius M. Mobius, a mid-level paper pusher at the Marvel Universe’s inter-dimensional bureaucratic time travel regulation organization the Time Variance Authority. They’re the group in charge of keeping the flow of time straight, and Loki has gone and messed things up, so they’re recruiting him to fix what he broke. Of course, any alliance with Loki is bound to be a shifty sort, so don’t expect this trailer to be entirely on the up and up. Check it out below and see the series when it debuts in June.
