Ted Lasso was one of the most unexpected delights of 2020, a TV spinoff from a marketing campaign that ended up as some of the most refreshing, wholesome comedy available all pandemic long. It’s hard not to fall in love with Jason Sudeikis’ U.S. football coach-turned-U.K. football coach, a man with a limited understanding of the game but enormous appreciation for the heart. He’s the anti-antihero, a man whose major conflicts stem from of his own good-naturedness, who solves problems by rising above them and wins fights by believing the best about his foes. We never needed a guy like Ted more.
And now, we’re back with another season for the best thing to come out of Apple TV’s foray into original content. It doesn’t drop till July 23, but you can get a look at what’s in store right now.
