The Final Trailer for ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ Highlights a Fight for Captain America’s Legacy

WandaVision was a superhero show disguised as a trippy psychodrama, but its Marvel Studios followup mostly looks like a superhero show disguised as, well, a superhero show. Maybe not entirely, since Falcon and the Winter Soldier most obviously looks like a followup to the Captain America movies, which was at their best when they were taking cues of Cold War-era espionage thrillers. This looks very much in that vein, following Captain America’s two best friends on a globetrotting adventure to preserve their mentor’s legacy and maybe even figure out just what America means right now. We already know the show will feature a lot of Sam (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) trading barbs when they aren’t dodging bullets and punching out bad guys, but hopefully this show will also following WandaVision‘s steps in terms of delivering more nuanced introspection into the lives and stories of these characters than the movies typically have time for. We’ll know more when the first episode drops this Friday
