Kelly Clarkson Takes Over for Ellen DeGeneres as Prime-time TV Host

Kelly Clarkson is set to take over Ellen DeGeneres’ NBC time slot, giving Clarkson the prime afternoon spot.

The Kelly Clarkson Show is wrapping up its second season, and recently garnered six Daytime Emmy nominations. The bump up to the prime time slot comes as no surprise for fans of the newbie talk show host. From celebrity guests and ordinary people to games and daily “Kellyoke” performances, there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

Clarkson’s kind demeanor and ability to laugh at everything makes her the perfect person to spend an afternoon hour with. Moving into the prime time slot guarantees we’ll get to hear more of Clarkson’s thoughts on life and hear more of her bubbly southern self.

Earlier this month, DeGeneres announced earlier this month The Ellen Show was coming to an end after 19 seasons. “When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged,” said DeGeneres, “and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore.”

With the Kelly Clarkson Show taking over for the long-reigning queen of primetime TV, it seems that Clarkson is looking to become a mainstay on the small screen. We’re not mad about it, as long as she keeps crushing her “Kellyoke” covers.
