Apple TV Plus Shares First Look at ‘The Problem With Jon Stewart’

Fans can get a first look at “The Problem with John Stewart,” which premieres on Apple TV Plus September 30. A companion podcast will also launch the same day.

Stewart will host his first show in six years, after he left “The Daily Show” in 2015. “The Problem with John Stewart” is described as a “current affairs series,” rather than a talk show, and will feature a wide range of guests and segments.

In the first look, viewers get a small glimpse of what’s to come. The show will host a wide range of celebrities who will participate in sketches to experts who can speak on topics effecting the country today, such as comprehensive veteran care or inequality among the working class. Additionally, ordinary people will be featured to highlight their personal issues in America. Each episode will have a corresponding podcast that expands on topics and features staff members from the show and expert commentators.

Stewart spent 16 years as the host of the satirical news show “The Daily Show,” where he used humor and wit to provide commentary on current events. His segments blended sarcasm with factual research, and Stewart invited a wide range of guests from opposing sides to discuss a variety of issues. When he stepped down from his hosting role in 2015, RELEVANT reflected on the way Stewart changed news commentary.

Stewart removed the gap between news anchor and news viewer. He informed on our informers. He reminded us that there’s a lot more to watching the news than just watching the news, senior editor Tyler Huckabee wrote. Because in the midst of all the laughter, putdowns and puns, what Stewart was trying to do was something very serious. He was trying to tell the truth.

New episodes will premiere every other week following the series premiere.
