Trailer: ‘A Week Away’ Is the Youth Group Camp Rom-Com K-LOVE Musical Extravaganza You’ve Been Waiting For

It’s been a while since we checked on the progress of A Week Away, the church camp romcom featuring Glee-type musical numbers of CCM greats like Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman and For King and Country. Obviously, this Netflix feature has an extremely specific target demographic in mind but, hey, we’re not ones to throw stones in glass houses. The pandemic put A Week Away on a bit of a delay but it’ll drop on Netflix on March 26, with a soundtrack featuring the likes of Johnnyswim and Tauren Wells. And we’ve got another trailer, which gives us a closer look at the story of bad boy Will Hawkins who’s just looking for a reason, roaming through the night to find his place in this world, and stop for a minute, baby, because there’s a goodie two shoes out to steal Will’s heart and save his soul.

The whole thing has “guilty pleasure for folks who grew up on K-LOVE” written all over it, but the formula has worked wonders in the past so why wouldn’t they try again? Everyone knows that youth group camp was an emotional roller coaster of spiritual renewal and hormonal pingpong. Why not make a movie out of it?
