There have been bad Christian movies. There have been good Christian movies. There have even been one or two great Christian movies. But has there ever been a faith-based cinematic experience that is so exquisite in its craft, universal in its themes and timeless in its message that it transcends to the level of masterpiece? There is now. A UK-based filmmaker who goes by Joseph the Dreamer has put together a TikTok of such stunning artistry, narrative depth and creative vision we simply have no choice but to award him a thousand Oscars and watch the movie 500 times. Observe.

Incredible. Just incredible. How many times have you watched it? Not enough. Go back and watch it again, and let the pure waves of creative genius flow over your soul. The biblical wisdom of Charles Spurgeon married to the filmmaking acumen of Martin Scorsese, with a little Step Up 2 the Streets, Carman and youth group skit energy thrown in for good measure.

For the uninitiated, the video is a riff on a viral TikTok from Casey Frey and became a meme late last year. But this is the rare Christian parody that not only holds up but effortlessly vaults over the source material. The hairdryer! The handstand! That coat.

In addition to being a TikTok genius, Joseph’s YouTube page has all sorts of quality Christian content — including this “Stuff Christians Say: Pandemic Edition” and some spiritual inspo. Definitely a guy to keep an eye on.
