Yuppy’s Sonoco gas station on George Washington Memorial Highway in York County, Virginia has a policy posted on the front door for all to see: Can’t afford food? Just ask and you shall receive.
The manager, Will Saleem, told a local news station there is no use in people going to sleep hungry. “We’re not going to turn you down if you ask for food, simple as that. Money isn’t everything, that’s the reason behind the sign.”

Saleem also says that, surprisingly, sales for the past month are booming, but not because of the policy. The policy has been in action for about eight months. He estimates that he only gives out food once or twice per day, but most of the time, people will come back and give him the money they owe.
