Over the weekend, Disney dropped another teaser for their upcoming live-action adaptation of Aladdin. The sneak peeks we’ve seen so far have seen some mixed reception from fans, with a few people voicing concern over the movie’s aesthetic and a few others voicing particularly worry with how a live-action genie will be portrayed.
Well, whether it relieves your fears, we have our first look at Will Smith’s genie in his full blue form.
It’s not a ton to go on, but the amount of CGI is pretty intense. This genie has a back like The Rock and a square jaw that veers closer to the animated look than expected. What’s not clear from this tease is if Will Smith’s turn as the character will capture the mania of Robin Williams’ performance, or if he’ll opt for something else entirely.
Aladdin comes out May 24, so we have a ways to go before release. Between now and then we can probably expect some more trailers, and if we’re lucky, a look at the magic carpet.
