The Down Syndrome Abortion Ban Has Been Passed in Ohio

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has signed a new law that makes it illegal for doctors in the state to perform abortions based on a diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Doctors who violate the new law will face felony charges and could have their medical license revoked. The pro-life group  Ohio Right to Life had been fighting for the law, and issued a statement on Friday that said,

Now that the Down Syndrome Non-Discrimination Act is law, unborn babies prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome are given a shot at life. Ohio is and will continue to be a state that sees the lives of people with Down syndrome as lives worth living, thanks to this legislation.

North Dakota and Indiana have similar laws.
