The Story About the Guy Who Put Himself into a Coma with 413 Red Lobster Biscuits Was a Hoax

Headlines like this tend to get a lot of views on the Internet: “Local Man in Coma After Eating 413 Red Lobster Biscuits.” But if a story sounds to insane to be true, it usually is. But that didn’t stop a number of newspapers from around the world from running with a story about a food writer who had to be hospitalized after eating a humanly impossible number of biscuits. Even though the story claimed that doctors were draining butter that was blocking the gluttonous diner’s brain, a number of editors actually believed that such a feat was not only plausible, but actually happened. It turns out, the website that the story was featured on, RockCityTimes.com, is a satirical news site. The website header even says, “Arkansas’ 2nd most unreliable news source.” In the meantime, the newspapers missed truly amazing stories like this, that have been curiously unreported in the mainstream media: “Scientific Breakthrough Reveals Stars Consist Primarily Of Twinkles” …
