Sorry About ‘The Lone Ranger,’ Disney.

So, in all likelihood, you didn’t go see The Lone Ranger this weekend. As a matter of fact, just about nobody went to see The Lone Ranger, and analysts are predicting that Disney is on track to lose about $190 million. Huh. So weird that a $250 million movie based on a half-remembered character and his racially disconcerting sidekick didn’t really land with movie goers. So, that’s the bad news. The good news is that Disney essentially has an infinity symbol next to their checking account, so they’re not going anywhere. The weird news is that a movie can cost 250 million dollars and even if the people who paid for it lose most of that money they can basically shrug and say, “maybe next time” …
