Scorsese’s Next Film Is Headed for Netflix

Netflix is picking up Martin Scorsese’s next major mob movie. The film, The Irishman, was originally set to be produced by Paramount Pictures, but in light of Chairman Brad Grey leaving the production company, Paramount is not in a place to take on a project like Scorsese’s.

According to IndieWire, a source close to the project said, “Scorsese’s movie is a risky deal, and Paramount is not in the position to take risks. This way, he can make the project he wants.”

What’s the big risk? Netflix has yet to confirm anything, but we do know that Robert De Niro will be starring in the feature film and made to look like he’s 30 years old again, the same age the actor was in his first Scorsese film Mean Streets. The Irishman will be De Niro and Scorsese ninth project together.
