Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron to Star in the New ‘Star Wars’?

According to a report in the Latino Review—an outlet that has broken some pretty significant casting news in the past, including being the first one to break the news that Harrison Ford would be appearing in the new films—young Hollywood stars Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron are both in talks to have major roles in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII.

The new film is said to take place 30 years after Return of the Jedi, and according to early rumors, Gosling is in talks to play the son of Luke Skywalker, and filmmakers may be interested in Efron for the role of Han Solo’s son. Star Wars was mysteriously absent from this year’s Comic-Con, and there’s some speculation that Disney (who now owns the Star Wars franchise) is saving any major casting revelations for its own D23 Expo in August. Now, Gosling’s reps have denied the meetings, but that’s standard practice. Interestingly, both Gosling and Efron have ties to Disney: Efron rose to fame following the Disney Channel’s High School Musical craze, and Gosling is a former Mouseketeer.
